For a decade, "meeting at Lake Nona" meant one place. Town Center. Boxi Park, Chroma, the Wave Hotel, the lawn out front where every food truck night and holiday show has landed since the neighborhood was still mostly sod and stakes. If you lived in Laureate Park, that was your walkable core. If you lived in Eagle Creek or Storey Park, Town Center was the drive worth making.
That single-node summer is ending. Between May and September of 2026, two separate retail districts are opening on opposite ends of the community, and the practical geography of daily life here is about to look different than it did in June.
The Second Center of Gravity
Lake Nona West sits on 54 acres along Lake Nona Boulevard, just east of Boggy Creek Road. It is a walkable, 405,000-square-foot center anchored by Target with a mix of national and local shopping, dining and entertainment. Tenants are opening in phases through the rest of the year, not on a single ribbon-cutting date, which is why residents keep asking each other what is actually open right now.
Here is the confirmed lineup, with the leased square footage where public documents include it:
- Target as the anchor at 149,247 square feet
- Homesense (24,979 square feet), Barnes & Noble (15,597 square feet), Total Wine & More (20,157 square feet)
- Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy (66,562 square feet)
- Nordstrom Rack (25,893 square feet), Sephora (4,741 square feet), JETSET Pilates (2,519 square feet)
- Drybar, Just Salad, Gloss Nail Co., and Kilwins Ice Cream
- Cañonita, the sit-down restaurant everyone keeps asking about, in a 9,321 square foot space at 5947 Lake Nona Blvd, opening late 2026
Cañonita deserves a second look because it is the first full-service restaurant announced for the center and because the numbers hint at ambition. City permit-related records show a $4.5 million interior buildout tied to the restaurant, and that investment is even larger than the $3.5 million reportedly being spent on a new Seasons 52 location in Winter Garden. The concept is frequently recognized on "Best of Vegas" lists over the last 25-years at The Venetian Resort. This is not another taqueria window. It is Tavistock testing whether Lake Nona can carry a destination-scale restaurant outside the Wave Hotel footprint.
Public art is being folded in from the start. Miami-based creative studio Chalk & Brush will create 30 murals throughout the development, making it the company's largest installation to date. Founded by Cuban-born artist Cinthia "Cynno" Santos, the studio is known for colorful, large-scale murals that often become local landmarks. If Town Center's identity is the sculpture garden and the Wave lobby, Lake Nona West's identity looks like it will be painted onto its walls.
Sprouts Lands at Eagle Creek on June 12
While attention has been on the western edge, a smaller shift already happened on the Osceola-facing side. Sprouts lists the Lake Nona site as Store #677 and pegs the opening date at June 12, 2026, at the corner of Eagle Creek Sanctuary Boulevard and Narcoossee Road, with an address of 10013 Eagle Creek Sanctuary Blvd in Orlando.
The grocery is not arriving alone. It is set to serve as the anchor tenant for a new multi-building retail phase in the Eagle Creek neighborhood, with plans calling for a mix of restaurants, shops, and office space. The center will consist of roughly five buildings totaling about 81,250 square feet, with a roughly 23,299-square-foot space carved out for the grocery anchor at the southern end of the site. Residents south of Emerson who have been driving to Publix on Narcoossee or across 417 for produce now have a third option inside the community boundary.
What Narcoossee Actually Feels Like This Summer
The traffic conversation at Lake Nona used to be theoretical. It is not anymore. Florida Department of Transportation data shows that between State Road 528 and the Osceola County line, an average of 38,000 cars traveled on Narcoossee Road each day in 2022. That was three years and thousands of rooftops ago.
Tavistock's answer is spatial, not just aspirational. Crews have built two roundabouts in front of the plaza to keep traffic flowing on Lake Nona Boulevard, and they will offer Beep autonomous shuttle rides to help reduce traffic. There is also a 20-stall Level 3 electric vehicle charging hub powered by Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging, offering ultra-fast charging capabilities for visitors while they shop and dine, which functionally converts a shopping trip into a full battery top-off for anyone who lives here and drives EV.
If you have been budgeting a full Publix run and a Target run as one afternoon, the practical shift is this: starting this summer, the two errands sit on opposite sides of the community. Sprouts pulls south. Target pulls west. The old habit of stringing everything along Narcoossee is going to feel slower than the new pattern of picking one node and staying there.
The Weeknight and Weekend Rhythm
Everything above is about new construction. The rhythm of an actual summer here still runs on the standing calendar, and it is worth a resident's mental map:
Weeknight walk-ups. Sunlight Yoga runs from 6 to 7 PM at Dockside in Laureate Park, open to the whole community. Boxi Park still handles the standing food-and-live-music baseline. Nona Adventure Park's summer lineup rotates Latin Nights, Songs at Sunset, Karaoke and Cornhole, with Songs at Sunset on July 10 running 5:30 to 8:30 PM.
Sundays at the water. The Sunday market at Nona Adventure Park runs every Sunday from 11 AM to 6 PM with local vendors, food, drinks, and live entertainment. There is also a fresh market by the water at Lake Nona from June 3 through September 2, which is the summer version of the Farmers Market residents already know from cooler months.
Marquee weekends. The Great American Block Party is at Lake Nona Town Center on June 27, 4–9 PM, with food, games, live music and a laser light show. The last full weekend of July belongs to the Lake Nona Sprint Triathlon, which runs July 25 and 26 at 7:30 AM as a point-to-point race starting at Nona Adventure Park, opening with a swim in the lake. If you live on the triathlon route, you already know to move the car the night before.
Later this year. Lake Nona's Medical City continues to grow, and one of the most impactful additions will be the new AdventHealth hospital, expected to open in November 2026. That is not a summer story, but it is the reason retail keeps chasing this ZIP code. The daytime population is about to jump again.
Reading the Change
For someone who moved here in 2019, the mental model was simple. One walkable core, one hotel bar, one lawn where everything happened. The 2026 model is a two-node community with a hospital anchor on the way, and the daily-life implications are more interesting than any single tenant announcement.
The Boggy Creek side of Lake Nona used to mean the airport exit. Starting this summer, it means Homesense on a Tuesday and a mural walk on a Saturday. The Eagle Creek side used to mean quiet gate-guarded streets and a drive to the grocery store. Starting June 12, it means a Sprouts run and a Narcoossee that the retail is finally catching up to. The old Town Center rhythm is not going anywhere, but it is no longer the whole picture. Residents who figure out the new geography first will spend less of the summer in a left-turn lane.
